How to Undo and Get Back Fortnite Spending Money
Were you tricked into paying for in-game goods in Fortnite? The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is holding Epic Games accountable. As a result, the gaming giant has agreed to pay a $245 million settlement, which you can get a share of.

Who Can Apply for a Refund From Epic Games’ Fortnite FTC Settlement?
In December 2022,the FTC fined Epic Games $245 million for using dark patterns to charge customers for unwanted purchases. In September 2023, the FTC started accepting applications for refunds from affected gamers.
Not sure if you qualify for a refund? You can apply if you meet any of the following eligibility requirements found on theFTC Fortnite Refunds web page :
- “You were charged in-game currency for items you didn’t want between January 2017 and September 2022.
- Your child made charges to your credit card without your knowledge between January 2017 and November 2018.
- Your account was locked between January 2017 and September 2022 after you complained to your credit card. company about wrongful charges.”
Additionally, you must be based in the US to apply for a refund and at least 18 to apply. If you are under 18, the FTC says that “a parent or guardian must complete the claim form for you”.
How to Apply for a Refund From Epic Games’ Fortnite FTC Settlement
The FTC started sending emails to Fortnite gamers on September 19, 2023, and will continue to do so through October. Before you apply, ensure you have your claim number or Epic Account ID on hand (thisEpic Games webpage can help). Start by finding your Epic Account ID if you haven’t received an email with a claim number from the FTC.
Once that’s sorted, follow the steps below to apply for a refund from Epic Games’ Fortnite FTC settlement:
- Go tohttps://www.fortniterefund.com/File-a-Claim .
- You’ll be asked whether you’ve received a claim number from the FTC. Choose the appropriate answer and clickNext .
- Follow the prompts to complete the application.
The deadline for applications is January 17, 2024.
Please note that submitting an application doesn’t guarantee that you’ll be refunded. There’s also no way of knowing how much you’ll be refunded or when you’ll receive your refund if your application is approved. The FTC will provide updates about mailing dates in the future.
